Welcome to The Hacked Unicorn

Hi, I'm Kali Blackflower, the maker behind The Hacked Unicorn. Kali Blackflower is a name I created from the goddess Kali, her eight arms, and black flowers, with a little of my own gardening magic woven in. It felt like the perfect name for a brand rooted in dark beauty, witchy whimsy, and the joy of making something with my own hands.

A creative life, in many forms

I've been artistic and crafty my entire life, but my wire-wrapping journey began in 2022. I originally made rings for myself to wear in nail photos, since I also do my own nails. Those first rings quickly blossomed into a small obsession.

In 2023, I lost vision in my right eye because of a retinal detachment caused by genetic deterioration. During recovery from surgery, I had to keep my head down, so I kept wire wrapping while I healed. Losing vision changed a lot, but it also strengthened my urge to create.

Since then, I've followed curiosity wherever it leads: crochet, cross-stitch, lace tatting, sewing, loom beading, bead crochet, macramé, and so much more. Many of these crafts began because I saw online friends making beautiful things and wanted to try them too. I even make time for hardcore PC gaming between creative experiments.

Made for the beautifully unusual

The Hacked Unicorn is for people who love a darker aesthetic, unexpected details, and a little magic in everyday life. I create crystal jewelry, embroidery and cross-stitch patterns, resin pieces, polymer clay creations, and other handmade treasures for people who see themselves in the unusual, the gothic, the witchy, and the whimsical.

For me, handmade means following an idea all the way through with patience, curiosity, and care. A piece of jewelry is shaped and wrapped by hand. A pattern begins as a creative idea and becomes something you can bring to life yourself. Resin and polymer clay pieces are made one at a time, so every small detail carries a little of the maker's touch.

Handmade should be within reach

I keep my prices on the lower end of handmade creations because I want more people to be able to own a piece of handmade art without having to fork over a ton of money. I don't create because I expect every minute to be paid like a regular job. I create because I love making things, and the joy of sending a piece off to a new home is more payment than I could ever ask for.
